College of Charleston

Now on to the College of Charleston!

After spending Saturday afternoon and Sunday in Charleston, it was finally time for my Mother and I to see the reason why we were actually in Charleston: C of C! It was only about 5 minutes (walking) away from our hotel which was nice. We walked around the campus for a little bit to get the feeling of the place and then we went to the admissions office to wait for the information session and the tour.

Unfortunately, C of C was not my favorite. I feel awful for not liking it though!! I heard from so many people that I would, but I just wasn't enamored by it. It's a great college, just not for me! By the end of the tour, I found myself comparing it constantly to Vanderbilt. Vandy is my #1 choice, and my absolute DREAM. I was kind of let down that on my already dwindling list of colleges, I have to kind of "cross off" another college. I know that I'll probably apply to C of C, but it's not my first choice. I just need to find another college (besides Vandy (which is so ridiculously hard to get into)) that I'll fall in love with! But, the good thing about this college tour was finding out more of what I want and don't want in a college. It also inspired me to work extra hard for Vanderbilt! I've been crazy studying this whole week!!

The college itself is really pretty. I loved Charleston and the campus, but I did have a little problem with it being directly in the city. I always thought that I wanted to go to college in the city, but after visiting C of C, I kind of changed my mind. I just feel like I would be stressed all the time if I was smack dab in the middle of a huge city. I guess every city is different though, because when I went to visit Vanderbilt, I didn't feel this way at all. It's in the middle of a city, but when you're on the campus, it feels like you're in your own little oasis of college.

So next on my list of college tours is University of Richmond and SMU. I really, really want to love these colleges. I don't want to be disappointed!!

I hope y'all have a great day!!

Charleston!! part 1

Hello y'all!! This is post 1 of 2 about my President's Day trip to Charleston, SC. I was there for a college visit (College of Charleston), and I took lots of pictures of my time down south!

The Sanctuary

Now this technically wasn't taken in Charleston, but my mom and I spent Sunday on Kiawah Island, a place we used to go when my brother and I were little. It was nice to revisit it because a lot had changed!

My mother and I loved this house because it's little and pink!!

And of course, here are our Lilly carry-ons. So much better than checking luggage!

College Advice

As I am a junior, this is "the year" that I'm supposed to spend stressing about college and life after high school. I have had my fair share of college freakouts, but they're slowly fading away (thank goodness!) Next weekend I am going to Charleston with my mother to visit College of Charleston! I'm so excited! I have only heard good things about it, and it's Charleston! The south!! I'm so, so, so excited. This will be the 2nd college visit for me this year (the first one being Vanderbilt and Sewanee), and I am actually looking forward to how I'm going to react to the college. Hopefully I'll love it!!

Anywho, I have started making a (somewhat) small list of colleges that I'm interested in. I'm only looking at schools in the South, which kind of limits how many I can see at a time. There are soo many colleges in the Northeast but I'm not really interested in any of them! Eventually I'll go to North Carolina and South Carolina and visit the 100 different colleges that I like there. But, here's the premature list of colleges that I am interested in looking at --

1. Vanderbilt (Love. Love. Love. But so hard to get into!)
2. University of Richmond
3. Davidson
4. Wake Forest
5. College of Charleston
6. University of Georgia
7. Elon
8. SMU

What other colleges do y'all think I will like? I'm open to all suggestions!!

Have a great day, y'all!!

This Weekend

I'm really excited for this weekend because my school is hosting two fun events on Friday and Saturday night. On Friday, two boys in my class are throwing a techno concert...it sounds weird, I know. I'm not even that into "techno", but all my friends are going and I hope it will be fun. Unfortunately, I don't know what to wear, and since everything I own is Lilly Pulitzer, I think I'm going to have a hard time. I'll probably end up wearing jeans and something pink!

Then, on Saturday night, I am SO excited because the junior and senior classes are having a Murder Mystery party! It's a bi-annual event for upperclassmen, and I've been looking forward to it for years. The theme is "roaring 20's" so I'll be all prepared in my flapper gear. Last week, we were handed our character packets (for those who signed up) and I'm Chirp, this coat check girl who stands at the door. It sounds like a bad part, but she's involved somehow with the main guy (who's played by one of my favorite seniors). The character packet says that I should wear some time of "uniform" but I honestly don't know what to do for that, so I think I'm going to wear this really pretty black Ralph Lauren dress. It's like a shift dress, but it's sparkly and kind of 20's-esque.

I'll try to post pictures from this weekend! I'm always really bad about getting people to take pictures of me during events but now I'll be inspired to!! Have a great day y'all!!

What to do on a Double Snowday

This picture was from last week. The snow is doubled, if not tripled, along with a sheet of ice. I hate complaining, I really do, but this is crazy. This is my 5th snow-day this year, but my first double snow-day ever. I am currently sick with a really annoying cold, so I'm happy about missing school, but there is too much snow! There's nowhere for it to go anymore since it's not melting and there's more snow every week. So, here are some things that people can do when there are snow days!

1. Watch a movie

Last Thursday we had a snow day, and I ended up watching Funny Face to pass the time!

2. Do homework

This seems like the most logical and reasonable thing to do, but it's just so boring. Unfortunately, it must be done!

3. Internet Shop

For all the shopaholics...

4. Organize your closet

A couple weeks ago, during yet another snow day, my mother and I organized our Lilly closet!

What do y'all like to do on snow days?? Let me know!!
