Obsession: Gel Manicures

I don't know about y'all, but I have to have my nails done no matter what. I have had my nails consistently painted since I was 11 years old. I have my regular salon very close to my house, so I can always sneak in and get my nails done if I'm short on time and don't want to drive very far.

A couple of days ago, I didn't have much homework so I went after school to get my nails done. My favorite manicurist has been begging me for months to try the new OPI gel manicure, and I finally gave in after seeing the wreck that my French manicure had become since the last time I had them done.

When you get a gel manicure, it's not very different from a regular French manicure (with the exception that after every layer I would put my hards under a LED light).  They give you a base coat, then the pale pink layer, but when my darling manicurist started to apply the white polish, I was amazed!! She had an actual paintbrush and was forming the white line with it! I thought it was so cool. Then she finished off the manicure with the 2nd pink layer and a top coat. After about 5 minutes of my hands under a LED light, there's spraying and moisturizing and other nail salon goodies going on, but all in all it didn't take any longer than a regular manicure!!

It's supposed to last for 2-3 weeks, which is LOVELY considering I usually mess up my nails the day after I get them done. I don't know how they take off the gel polish, though...I'll keep y'all posted!!

Have y'all gotten a gel manicure done before? Let me know!!

Just as a little plug, I'm thinking of doing the vlog this weekend so if you have any last minute questions you want me to answer, comment on this post with them! Thanks so much!!

Have a great day!!

xoxo, Hannah

  1. Gel and shellac are my favorites! I usually get shellac- it last three weeks for me and it peels off near the end. My manicurist usually peels but you can also soak them in acetone.

When it peels it's just like regular nail polish- no pulling, no cracking, no trauma to my nail beds! I'm also obsessed!

  2. I have been thinking about this for Spring and Summer when I only wear pInK nail varnish. The colder months I change my polish almost daily...a tad ocd one may think, but it works for me! Your nails look GoRgI!
