Prepping for Gameday

One of the things that I'm most excited about for college is FOOTBALL SEASON! My high school didn't have a football team (much to my and my father's chagrin), so I didn't get the chance to have the full "high school experience" with Friday night football and high school spirit! My first gameday is September 1st, and I'm already planning what I'm wearing to some of the Wake gamedays.

I have separated my gameday outfits into 2 separate groups: the preppy sundresses for warmer weather, and Wake's school colors for the colder games.

(1) Lilly Pulitzer Worth Shift in Multi Sailor Patch with Monogrammed Navy Jack Rogers

(2) Lilly Pulitzer Ferra Dress in Call me Kitty Cat with White Jack Rogers

(3) Just Madras Jennifer Dress in Pink Seersucker with Gold Jack Rogers

(4) Lilly Pulitzer Lottie Dress in Multi You Gotta Regatta with Light Pink Jack Rogers

I have researched around and have found out that most girls at Wake, like many girls at other Southern schools, wear cute sundresses for football games! This makes me so happy! I am very excited to wear some adorable sundresses for the games at the beginning of the season. Of course, I'm going to be pairing my dresses with pearls and Jack Rogers!

(1) Lilly Pulitzer Cassie Dress Slub in Black with Lilly Pulitzer Gold McKim Sandals

(2) Lilly Pulitzer White Elsa Tissue Top with Dark Wash Skinny Jeans, Madewell Riding Boots, a Marley Lilly Black and Gold Monogrammed Scarf and a Smathers and Branson Black and Gold Headband

(3) H&M Black Dress with Gold Bangles, Ray Ban Aviators, and Cowboy Boots

When it gets colder, I will definitely be wearing clothes that show a little bit more school spirit! Wake's colors are black and gold, which makes it super easy to buy gameday clothes. It's so easy to find black dresses and gold accessories!

What do y'all think of my ideas for gameday outfits? Please let me know if I'm heading in the right/wrong direction! Also, do I need anything else for gameday??

Have a fabulous day!!

xoxo, Hannah

  2. Very cute outfits! Only other hints I'd forwarn you about is. One have some baby wipes in your dorm for after games. My jacks always got kinda dirty at tailgates and you want to be able to wipe them down afterwards. Two even at super cold games I rarely saw girls wear jeans, mainly just tights or leggings with dresses then. And don't forget your Wake tervis and croakies for games those are necessities here as well!

  3. Sundresses are meant to still be school colors, not Lilly. You can find plenty from Red Dress Boutique, DressU, and other companies. Wearing a non school color dress on Gameday is just silly.

  4. You're spot on! I always joined The Screaming Demons, just so I would have a guaranteed seat for the games and I didn't wear the t-shirt, but it's nice to have for memories. For the first game, I'd wear a black dress, sunglasses, Jacks, and possibly a hat because it gets HOT in the student section. Oh & bring sunscreen! I always got terribly burned on my shoulders. The small longchamp bags are great for stashing your student ID, a small amount of money, sunscreen, etc.

    I'm sure you'll have a blast!!!

Oh & as far as tailgating goes, DO NOT drink at the football stadium. There are several ALE agents there and I have watched freshmen get cited - not a fun phone call home.

  7. All of those options are really cute! I would definitely look at some black/white options that can be paired with gold jewelry etc for the warmer games! Whoever the Anonymous comment was is obnoxious in the way that they phrased their comment - it's not silly at all to wear Lilly! I found out at Furman instead of wearing straight purple and white (our school's colors) most girls just wear cute sundresses so it's all about experience! For the first one, I might lean towards the black/gold just to feel out what everyone is wearing.
I know Emma Graham has a really cute college section that lets you make a dress in your school's colors!!

Have so much fun - game days are my favorite!

  8. great post! and plenty of people wear Lilly dresses to games at UVA, navy and orange tend to be popular only because they are easy shades to find! Don't forget to enter my iPhone case giveaway and hope your having a wonderful weekend!
