Decorating Your Dorm Room: Wall Decor

Adding personal touches to your room like pictures, memo boards, and monograms make your dorm room super cute! It also helps the room not look like a prison cell.

I looooooved the Lilly letters that my mom made for my dorm room. I'm going to make some more for my room next year, as well as some for my roomie! There are a trillion DIY tutorials on Pinterest for how to paint your own Lilly letters, but you can also cover wooden letters with Lilly wrapping paper. Otherwise, you can get a wall decal from Etsy!

There is an Etsy shop that specializes in Lilly Pulitzer printed memo boards, and I think they're adorable. I had one in my room last year! It's a great place to put photos, as well as random items: I put my ∆∆∆ bid card and letters from my friends on mine!

I had a Lilly dry-erase board on my door (which turned out to be an interesting experience because my room was right by the elevator and people got pretty creative after coming back from parties). I love this half calendar, half dry erase board from Bed, Bath, and Beyond

Crafting your own artwork is also super cute! I'm painting some canvases really soon with some quotes that the roomie and I have picked out! Things to paint are bible verses, sorority goodies, and quotes! Also, Prep in Your Step has a great Etsy shop with preppy painted canvases! I have the one shown above with the long champ/Jacks/Shift Dress/Hunters on it!

I also love cork boards and magnetic boards! I'm planning on crafting my own later on this summer!

Have a fabulous day!

Decorating Your Dorm Room: Storage and Organization

Living in a dorm room is hard, especially when you're packed into a tiny room with very little space for anything! I ended up putting a lot of things under my bed in storage bins.

Storage containers are really easy to find, especially when there are stores like Target and the Container Store. Next semester, I'm definitely buying the stackable containers and putting a ton underneath my bed. I'm definitely having a stack for food, sorority t-shirts, and shorts!

Have a great day!

Decorating Your Dorm Room: The Bed

Hi y'all! I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! For the next 6 days, I'm going to be doing a series on how to decorate your college dorm room. I've gotten a lot of requests, and since I worked out all the kinks from my freshman dorm room, I'm going to write about some tips and tricks that I've come across from the past year.

My roommate next year is one of my best friends at Wake, and we're going to do the whole matching-bedding thing! I'm really excited because our room is in a really good location, and I know that it's going to be a very popular room this upcoming school year! I can't wait for it to be finally decorated!

The first part of the series is talking about how to choose your bedding and make your bed super fun and cute! As much as I loved my Lilly Pulitzer for Garnet Hill bedding this year, I'm having a lot of fun looking for other options for my new room!

There are a few of places that I recommend for bedding: Garnet Hill, PB TeenDecor 2 Ur Door, and Ivy Halls via Etsy. Garnet Hill has all of the adorable Lilly printed bedding, but they also have some cute non-Lilly options. PB Teen is kind of the heaven of all things dorm room...there are so many choices from the site.

Here are some of my favorites from Garnet Hill and PB Teen.

Sheets are easy to get; just make sure that you have the right size for your bed! I had to get extra long twin sheets last minute because I didn't know until later on that the beds at Wake were a specific size. Most colleges will tell you on their housing website. I think it's easiest to get a solid color, like pink or white, but have fun with it!

Pillows are a lot of fun to choose as well! I had a trillion pillows on my dorm room bed this past year, and you've got to include a monogram!
But here are some other options for the girls who don't necessarily want to go overboard with the monograms. All of the pillows shown above are from PB Teen.

Even though it sounds kind of sketchy, Decor 2 Ur Door is absolutely adorable! A lot of the pictures that are on Pinterest of cute dorm rooms come from this website. The Decor 2 Ur Door experience is a real process though. They actually include a chart on their website on all the parts to decorating your bed!

Basically, what I would do is to design a duvet, bed scarf, bed skirt, all the pillows (sham, square, and lumbar), headboard, and window panel. It sounds like a lot...and it is, don't get me wrong, but it's so CUTE.

My personal favorite is the whole chevron themed room! I would change a few things around, but the sample room that they have on their website is just the best!

I really like the idea of the headboard. It gives the room a home-y feel! If you don't want to buy a headboard (like the adorable options at Decor 2 Ur Door), make one yourself! There are a lot of DIY tutorials on Pinterest, like this one.

Lastly, I"m beyond obsessed with the bedskirt. It's great for hiding the crazy amounts of storage that you'll have under your bed (BTW: storage post to come tomorrow!).

Ivy Halls is an Etsy shop that I found on dWa's blog Prep in Your Step! It's so adorable! I'm really considering getting one of these duvets for my room this year!

Let me know what you think! What are y'alls ideas for dorm bedding decoration? Let me know! My roomie and I are going to have so much fun choosing everything, but it's going to be difficult because there are so many options!

Have a lovely day!

Help Me! In Search of a Crossbody Bag!

I am in desperate search two types of crossbody bags: one "nice" one, preferably tan colored, and one that I can take to parties, preferably black.

I don't know why I'm having a hard time finding a purse that I can use when I go out! My favorite of the options shown above is the black and tan Michael Kors purse.

Here are my tan options. I looove the Tory Burch on the top right!

Do y'all have any ideas or suggestions? Let me know!

Have a great day!

How to Wear the Elsa Top

Hi y'all! I hope everyone is having a fabulous day! One of my favorite items from Lilly Pulitzer is the Elsa Top. It's a lighweight longsleeved silk top that comes in a ton of colors and is available year round! I wear it in all seasons because it's so dang cute and so versatile!

(1) Pair a bright Elsa with white shorts and cute sandals (like the Ringleader Sandal shown above!)

(2) A go-to outfit for me is an Elsa with bootcut jeans and cowboy boots! Super easy and cute!

(3) A Murfee Scarf is a great way to make an all-white outfit (featuring a white Elsa and the Worth Skinny Pant) pop!

Do y'all own the Elsa top? How do you like it and what do you wear with it? Let me know!

Have a lovely day!

Obsession: Olivia Palmero's Haircut

I spend way too much time on Pinterest. I really do. Y'all probably think that I spend hours and hours on Pinterest...because I have at least 4,000 pins, which is ridiculous.......but it's really not that bad! I mean come on, it's Pinterest! It's so much fun! I am the most typical Lilly-obsessed sorority girl because of my obsession with the website. But whatever.

Due to my infatuation with Pinterest, I have found one of my favorite haircuts of all time. Olivia Palemero has done it again, y'all! It's simple and classic: the lob. The lob, or long bob, is definitely overlooked but still on of my favorite hairstyles! I actually just got a haircut last week and I unknowingly got this exact same haircut. It's really easy and low-maintenance! Perfect!

Have a fantastic day!

What to Wear: Graduation

Graduation season is upon us, and Lilly Pulitzer has all the right dresses for the occasion! Whether you're going to a graduation party or having a graduation of your own, here are some dresses that I think would be perfect for all events!

(1) The Payton is such a great strapless dress. It has pearls sewn into the lace that make the dress stand out from other white dresses!

(2) I saw the Harwin in the Lilly store in Greenwich the other day and I was so sad because they didn't have my size! It is GORGEOUS. It's ridiculously flattering and the neckline is beautiful!

(3) The Antonia comes in two colors, pink and white, and I am obsessed with both! It's a very innocent dress that could be worn to so much afterwards!

(4) The Nicci is a classic Lilly lace shift dress! So pretty!

(1) The Caldwell is my newest obsession out of the Booze Cruise collection of the Lilly summer line. I tried it on the other day and it's gorgeous! Perfect with a belt and wedges.

(2) The Janice comes in two prints: Cosmo Pink Mini Party Favors and Turquoise High Beams. It's a really popular dress at the Greenwich store because it's so dang cute! It has gold lace detail at the neckline that makes the traditional shift stand out!

(3) The Foley is great because it is longer in length than most Lilly dresses, and it's fitted in the top and waist! The blue looks great with a tan and gold accessories as well!

(4) The Delia is so much fun, especially in the much-loved Cha Cha print! It's a little short, but I would counter that with a white Kaitlin cardigan and Jack Rogers!

What are y'all wearing to graduation and its accompanying parties? Let me know!

Have a fabulous day!
