I am the first person to admit that freshman year destroys your body. You are so out of your element and things can definitely get out of hand! When I got home from school, I was so unhappy at how much weight I had gained that I made a huge effort to get back on track with working out and eating healthy. It definitely is easier at home to lose weight because you're not tempted with late night meals, plus you have more time for exercise and sleep.
Now that I'm back in school, I have been fairly healthy and I have tried to work out at least 5 days a week. If I eat a Subway sandwich at 2 AM after going out, I make sure for the rest of the day to be really healthy. My meals typically consist of:
Breakfast: Starbucks blueberry oatmeal OR Special K protein meal bar
Lunch: Salad OR Sushi
Dinner: Salad OR Veggie Burger OR Turkey Wrap
I made a joke on Twitter recently that all I've been eating is veggie burgers, sushi, late night Subway and Diet Coke. It's so true! You definitely get into a routine once classes start, and now I know what to eat and what times, as well as when is best for me to work out.
I try to go to the gym...I'm not as consistent as my best friends who go every day, but I really do try to go 5 days a week. I will either do the elliptical for 45 minutes, or I'll run! Recently I've started running, and I'm shocked at how it isn't horrible and I actually feel great during and after! Also, I really do considering going out a workout because I dance a lot when my friends and I go to parties. You basically sweat out your body weight too!
Freshman year, I did gain the typical frosh-15. But, since the end of second semester last year, I have lost the freshman 15, as well as 10 more pounds! I'm so happy and it's definitely made me reconsider what to eat and how to work out when I'm in college.
Hi y'all! School is getting a wee bit intense right now, so I thought I'd post about how I take notes and stay organized for my classes! I have a big Psychology test on Monday, and I've had to keep really organized because there is so much information on the test.
I use a regular notebook, in which I take class notes and book notes.
It's nice to have everything in one place if I ever need to reference anything!
With my study guides, I like to handwrite them. My teacher sent out a review guide, so I basically filled it out with information that I acquired from the book and from class notes. Now it's all compiled and I can memorize it!
I looove Benefit Cosmetics, as y'all all know, and right before I left for school I made a stop in one of their stores to pick up some new makeup for college. Here are my recent makeup obsessions!
Everyone has been raving about the They're Real! mascara...and I like it...not love it. I am a loyal fan of BadGal Lash, and I actually much prefer it to the They're Real. I sometimes layer the new mascara on top of the BadGal Lash if I want super big and long eyelashes!
Love love love this product. It's called Gimme Brow, and you use it so you don't have to fill in your eyebrows and then set them. It does it all for you! I use this every day and I will definitely buy it again.
Lastly, I was in desperate need of new blush and I love the product that I bought. It's called Rockateur, and it makes me feel all glowy and tan when I wear it! It's my favorite out of the 3 things I bought.
Have y'all used any of these products? What are your thoughts on Benefit? Let me know!!
The Lilly girls and I over the summer for some reason had a major obsession with fur vests. Unfortunately, since it was July, it wasn't really the right time to start online shopping for them. Now that fall has taken over clothing stores and websites, as well as the temperature dropping (finally!), I have begun the official search for the perfect fur vest!
The one shown above is from Garnet Hill, and I really love it...but they're sold out of the brown online! Any suggestions for where to find a faux fur vest? Comment with any ideas!
1. Gameday tomorrow! I'm so so so excited, even though it's a really early game (which mean getting up even earlier to tailgate).
2. I have my first test next week for my sophomore year so I will be holed up in the library until next Wednesday when I take the test!
3. Loving the new Barbara dress from Lilly P! I like how they changed the colors to make it better for fall. I have it in the gold and white for sorority events, but I think the navy and gold is gorgeous too!
4. As much as I hate to say it, I really really like the new Miley Cyrus song. She drives me absolutely up the wall but the song is just so good!
5. I am looking for some cute exercise tops if y'all know of anything! I love the Lululemon tanks, but I want to see if there's anything less expensive!
I am beyond crazy about themed parties in college! They are so much fun, and dressing up is the best! A lot of girls I know keep a "costume" box in their dorm rooms for all of the various themed items that they've collected for parties. I am designating one of the plastic containers under my bed in my dorm room for all my costumes, and I've been collecting random clothes and accessories the entire summer for when I go back to school! Here are some of the must-haves for themed parties in college.
anything USA themed (my favorite!)
animal print anything
tacky christmas sweater
wayfarers + white button down shirt
Also, here are some themes that I have been to that are a good jumping off point for stocking up your costume box: fiesta, beach party, rave, redneck, rapper, jersey, indian, cowgirl, Christmas, risky business, 90's, 80's, USA, princess/barbie, superhero, animal, and Eurotrash!
Hi y'all! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I am very much ready for fall to start, as much as I love the warm weather here in North Carolina! Fall is really about the clothes for me, as girly as it is to say. Here are the top 5 things I'm ready to wear when it gets colder outside.
(1) I bought the Castaway scarf from Lilly Pulitzer right before I stopped working there over the summer, and I am so excited to wear it. It's super big, really soft, and so warm, so I'm going to have to wait until it's much colder outside to wear it. Definitely check it out, all of the Lilly girls were so excited to get it!
(2) VESTS ON VESTS ON VESTS I am counting the minutes. Not gonna lie, I've been known to wear a vest on occasion when it's the slightest bit chilly in my dorm room. The anticipation is killing me....(I'm really dramatic).
Hi y'all! If you are friends with me on facebook/know me/read this blog regularly, you might have noticed that I have had a change in hairstyle! At the beginning of the summer, I stopped flat ironing my hair; I only blow-dried it straight. But, halfway through the summer I stopped blow drying it! I have had my hair natural for almost 2 months now, and I love it!
I used to be very resistant of my naturally ringlet curly hair, but for some reason it has really worked out lately! I have also noticed how much it has grown, and my hairdresser commented on how healthy it is now. It doesn't look any longer in the pictures above, mainly since I just cut a little off and it looks shorter because it's so curly, but it grew about 2 inches over the summer.
I use Garnier and Moroccanoil curly hair products, as well as Nexxus split-end cream. I don't have to use as many split-end products because I don't use any heat products, but I still think that it helps!
I carry everything with me in my bag. Even though Wake's campus is really tiny, I am usually too lazy or not in a position to walk across campus back to my dorm room to pick up something that I left on my desk! Here are some of the things that I always have to have in my bag.
The basics are your jumping off point. If I have a huge work load and plan on studying all day, I'll carry my backpack. If I'm just going to class and am going to do some homework in Starbucks, I'll carry my Longchamp. My Lilly wristlet is always with me because I love that I can swipe into any building without even taking my ID out of the pocket. Lastly, I can't go anywhere without my agenda and iPhone!
I never really carry an entire cosmetic case, usually some lipgloss and if I feel super gross some concealer.
When I go to study in the library or Starbucks, I make sure to bring my laptop, tons of pens/pencils/highlighters, sticky notes (the best for added room in my agenda) and my notebooks. I have a different notebook for every class.
Lastly, some things that I always have in my bag are my obnoxious amount of sunglasses, earphones, a nutrition bar, a water bottle (a Tervis or Lilly tumbler), and if it's gross outside, an umbrella!
