Skirtin' Around with J. Crew

I am so done with this weather. It literally was snowing on Tuesday after being 70 and sunny last Friday. It's confusing and annoying and for goodness sake it's almost April! Until the weather finally stabilizes and is warm, I will resort to online-stalking spring and summer clothes.

I have recently been loving the J. Crew Factory skirts. I have a navy eyelet one, and it's such a nice alternative to my usual Lilly dress. If anyone has been watching my Pinterest lately, y'all know that half of what I pin are outfits with the skirts shown below!

You can't go wrong with these skirts. Pair them with a tank and cardigan, chambray shirt, or gingham button down!

Hope y'all have an awesome day!

Decorating Your Dorm: Wooden Monograms + GIVEAWAY!

I had to make housing decisions earlier in March for my junior year, so I already have dorm room decorations on the brain! It's crazy to think that sophomore year is almost over, but I'm really excited for the upcoming year. I am not going abroad, like much of my pledge class and friend group, but I'm happy that two of my best friends are staying with me at Wake.

I'm rooming with my best friend and it's going to be so much fun! We're very much Lilly-lovers, so expect the dorm room pictures in late August to be super colorful! We also love the large wooden monogram letters that a lot of shops on Etsy sell. It's a nice update to the wooden initials that I have in my room currently
The Spotted Zebras is an online shop that sells wooden monogram letters. You can buy the initials individually, or as a monogram set. I absolutely adorable them and think that they add great personalization for any monogram-lover's dorm room. Here are my three favorites from the Spotted Zebras.

Connected Wooden Circle Monogram
Reverse Circle Wooden Monogram
Wooden Connected Script Vine Monogram
Today is the first day of the Spotted Zebras + the Pink and Green Prep giveaway for a $50 gift card! It  ends one week from today so enter enter enter!

Do any of y'all have a wooden monogram in your room? Let me know!

Have a great day!

What I'm Wearing: Carolina Cup

Follow me on Instagram!
I'm wearing a Jubilee-era Betsey Dress from Lilly! Strapless dresses are my personal favorite, and it's just so pretty! I'm pairing it with gold McKim's (my personal comfortable). I was going to wear a monogrammed derby hat but then I came to the honest realization that I really don't look good in I'm breaking the derby tradition!

Another note about shoes. Wear flat sandals, I am begging you. Wedges are not the way to go for Carolina Cup!

Prepare for any kind of weather...I know a couple of years ago it was raining, and girls wore Hunter's instead of sandals. It happens! Pack a bag for the bus ride over with water, a snack, maybe makeup and a's a long day and you don't want to be without the essentials. Last year I woke up at like 5 to get on the fraternity bus, and I got back at probably 8 or 9!

Looking forward to seeing y'all in your Lilly best! Tweet me @PandGPrepBlog if y'all are there and want to say hey!

Sorting my life out

Hey everyone! A lot of y'all have asked me to write a post about my plans for after college, as well as what classes I'm taking and what my major is. It has been a long and tiring process, but I think that I have finally started to figure things out and make some decisions about my future!

At Wake Forest, we have to decide our major by February of our sophomore year. I changed my mind a million times...I have been pre-med, pre-business, health and exercise science, elementary education, special education, communications, political science...literally everything.

I finally decided on Psychology after taking an intro-psych class my sophomore fall! I absolutely love it and I find it to be so interesting. I'm taking two psych classes this current semester, and then for the next two years they will be the majority of my hours.

I also declared a communications minor. There are so many areas that you can get involved in with a comm major/minor, and while at first I was interested in broadcast journalism (back in the days when I wanted to be a Fox News, I am now looking toward the PR and marketing path.

This blog has been a great way to get involved with journalism and communications in general. Funnily enough, one of my comm professors said that starting a blog is a great way to gain experience if I ever wanted to follow through in magazine industry in the future!

Who knows what I'll do post-college or where I'll live but at least I've got my foot in the door with  some decisions!

Have a great day!

Weekend Recap

Hey everyone! I hope y'all had a fabulous weekend. On Saturday I had the joy of being part of the Morale committee for one of Wake Forest's biggest philanthropy events, Wake N Shake! The theme was "superheroes" and literally it couldn't have been more perfect!

Basically, the Morale committee keeps energy up for the entire 12-hour event. We had choreographed dances that we taught every hour or so, and we also tried to pump everyone up who attended the dance marathon.

My lovely BFF/future roomie and I were on the team together! Yes, we know our outfits are ridiculous...

Dancing on the stage at the end of the 12 hours!

There were six different teams for Wake N Shake, and different sororities/fraternities/clubs were put on each team. Tri Delt was part of the "Batman" team.

WE GOT A PICTURE WITH COACH CLAWSON. Our new football coach spoke at the beginning of the event, and jAk and I are literally obsessed with of course we had to take a picture with him!

Wake N Shake 2014 raised $141,586.41!!!! I am so so proud of the work that everyone put into the day and SO happy about the amount of money we raised this year!

Have a great day!

Friday Five

Hey y'all! Time for a Friday Five!

1. I started Grey's Anatomy last weekend and have spent the entire week binge-watching it on Netflix. It's SO good! I'm really happy there are a lot of seasons because I needed a new Netflix show to fill my time!

2. My new roomie and I are starting to think about our dorm room for next year! Get ready for a lot of prep-posts over the summer! Isn't the room above perfect?

3. Tomorrow is the huge philanthropy event that Wake Forest hosts, Wake n Shake! I'm super excited, especially since I'm on the morale team for the occasion. It's a twelve-hour dance marathon to raise money for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund!

4. On the drive back from Florida last Saturday, I'm fairly certain we listened to "All of Me" by John Legend at least ten times. Literally the greatest song ever. It will be played at my wedding.

5. Remember to tweet/email/Facebook me any post requests whenever y'all have them!

Have a great weekend!

Want to earn a Lilly Pulitzer + Estée Lauder free gift?

Hi y'all! I'm so happy to share with y'all the amazing promotion that Macy's is having with Estée Lauder and Lilly Pulitzer. For a limited time (until March 23), if you make a $35 Estée Lauder purchase through the Macy's website, you can choose a free 7-piece gift that includes makeup from Estée Lauder and a Lilly cosmetic bag.

Here is a picture of the cosmetic bag! Isn't it so cute??

The makeup in the free gift can be tailored to your preferences through the option of a "bold" or "subtle" color palette.

Macy's has also added a "Foundation Finder" and "Skincare Finder" in order to find your perfect makeup match. Top 5 Favorite Items from Lilly for Lifeguard Press

The Lilly for Lifeguard Press collection is my go-to for beach accessories, school supplies, and colorful technology. They really have all bases covered! Lifeguard Press recently released their new prints for 2014, so here are my top 5 favorite items from the new line.

(1) My iPhone is always losing battery way too quickly (mostly because I use it way too much), but with a backup mobile charger, keeping my phone up-and-running is so much easier.

(2) I would definitely use this wireless Bluetooth speaker for pregames with my friends!

(3) I have about 4 acrylic tumblers already, but I love the new prints.....

(4) You can never have too many croakies! These were so useful during spring break.

(5) I love these insulted tumblers! I have an overflow of drinkwear already in my dorm room but like...these are fantastic...

What are y'alls favorite items from the Lilly for Lifeguard Press new spring line? Let me know!

Have a great day!

Spring Break Recap

Hi y'all! I'm finally back from Spring Break, so sorry about the lack of posts for the past week! It was such a good time in Florida and I really wish that I was back on the beach instead of in the library. Here are some pictures of my spring break with my friends!

Follow me on Instagram!
Here is the beach in Naples on which we spent the past week!

My beautiful roomie and me on our last day!

Downtown Naples is literally adorable. I had never been before so I was so excited to get to visit!

My best friend (and future roomie!) and I!

Creepy stalker shot of my friends when we're walking to of the malls in Naples was literally the nicest outdoor mall that I have ever seen!

My best friends in the entire world!

Beach >>>>>> everything else

More roomie pics...

Here is the mall! Lululemon next to J. Crew next to Tory happy.

I loved being with my best friends for the week and I'm so glad that we got to relax on the beach for a little while. The second half of second semester is insane (philanthropy events, Carolina Cup, formals, exams, oh my Lord) so this was just the break that we needed!

How were y'alls spring breaks? Where did you go? Let me know!

Have an awesome day!

What I'm Wearing: Spring Break

I'm still in the preliminary stages of packing (it's a long and never-ending process), but I thought I'd show y'all some of the items that I'm bringing to Florida with me!

Follow me on Instagram!
Here is my original packing list for the week. It's just a brief outline of things that I know are necessary to pack!

I kinda threw a bunch of clothes into my bag at first, but it's much more organized now. I know that when I finish packing, I will definitely have too many things but it's better to overpack than under pack. Plus, my friends and I are driving so it's much easier to bring more!

I'm using my favorite pink hardshell luggage from C. Wonder and I'm also using a Lilly tote for my beach bag.

I got lots of new adorable bikinis from Victoria's Secret (as well as some much-loved classics from Lilly).

This is definitely not all the non-swimwear items that I'm bringing...I still have much to do! But I'm really excited to wear my new Emmett maxi from Lilly! It's a really good travel dress and perfect for spring break. The Georgie dress in Chum Bucket is one of my favorite dress styles, and of course I'm bringing a shift dress or two for post-beach activities! It's going to be cold at night, so I'm bringing my favorite Shep Shirt (and maybe my Skipper Popover...ahhh!!). I have two new coverups to bring out come beach-time, one from Lilly and the other from Monkees in Reynola Village. Y'all I just can't wait!

I hope everyone going on spring break has a fabulous time!

Social Media Update

Hi y'all! Super sorry for the second post of the day but I really needed to get this information out there! I've decide to create separate social media accounts for the blog so I can keep my personal accounts under my name and the blog accounts under the name The Pink and Green Prep.

I have made a new Twitter and Instagram for the blog, so check them out!

Obviously I'm totally okay with y'all continuing to follow me on my personal accounts (most likely under the name @hannahkate131), but if you want tweets and photos specifically of things related to this blog, follow me @PandGPrepBlog (for twitter) and @ThePinkandGreenPrepBlog (for instagram, sorry it's a mouthful!). Unfortunately a lot of names with the words "Pink and Green Prep" were already taken!

Okay! There's the update! Have a great day!

Wishlist Wednesday: March

Time for March's Wishlist Wednesday!

(1) Easter is super late this year, which usually means that wearing white and seersucker will be pushed back...but if it's nice outside come April I might break that rule! Love this seersucker tie-back dress from Miss Lilly!

(2) These wedges look great with my formal dress!

(3) I'm channeling my inner soccer mom with this J. Crew popover but I looove the color.

(4) The Tory Burch Miller Sandal is great alternative to Jack Rogers.

(5) Maybe I'll break away from my usual hoops or pearls and wear these fun Kate Spade chandelier earrings.

(6) Obsessed with Victoria's Secret sports bras! I've been working out really hard lately and I'm always looking for new exercise gear.

(7) Another cute pair of wedges...

(8) I customize Nike Free Run's in my spare time...I just really like neon workout gear...

I'm super excited for bright colors (especially coral) this month! It literally was 70 degrees on Sunday and then snowing on Monday so who really knows what the weather will be like...hopefully warm and sunny!

What's on y'alls wish list for this month? Let me know!

Have a great day!

The Lilly Pulitzer Guide to Spring Break

Spring break is fastly approaching (I leave on Friday!) so it's definitely time to start thinking about what to pack for your time on the beach. I am only a slightly bit partial to the lovely Lilly Pulitzer (ha), and in my opinion it's the most appropriate brand for every sunny and bright occasion! Here is a complete shopping guide for a Lilly-themed vacation!

Maxi dresses are quickly becoming my favorite types of dresses for the spring. You can dress them up and down, which is great for Spring Break. I bought the Emmett maxi in purple and I am really excited to wear it. It's very comfortable and it's going to look great with a tan! Y'all know of my obsession with the Luxury capri, and they go great with the new peplum top (in three different prints) from Lilly. Strapless dresses are my preferred style of dresses, and the Richelle dress is absolutely adorable. The tie-back is great, and it can also double as a Carolina Cup dress! Lastly, the Colleen Romper is a nice alternative to dresses or the top/white jeans combo. I don't really know how they would look on me, but the rompers that Lilly offers are super cute!

I have been diligently working out and dieting for the past five weeks for my spring break bikinis! Even though I'm going to be wearing a lot of Victoria's Secret bikinis, my personal favorites have always been from Lilly. I like the string bottoms and bandeau tops the best. The Sarasota tunic is a nice coverup and can also double as a cute top for after the beach. I have the Athena sweater in blue (can't wait to wear it), and I've decided I really like the Beach Pant! The prints are really cute this season, and they're extremely comfy!

While it is very short, the Tate skirt is a nice casual alternative to a dress, but not as casual as shorts. I looove the Skipper Popover (I have it in white) and I definitely plan on bringing it with me to Florida. The Andie boatneck is perfect to pair with the Tate skirt, but can also be dressed up with jewelry to wear with the Luxury capri!

Lastly, I have finally decided that the McKim's are wayyyy better than Jack Rogers. Don't get me wrong, I love my Jack's, but they are so dang uncomfortable. I wore my McKim's every day last summer and I can't wait to start wearing them again! The Coastal tote is good to take to the beach because it's plastic. And finally, if you're going out and don't want to wear regular sandals, the Kristen wedges are a great choice!

More updates to come on what I'm packing for Spring Break? What are y'alls essentials? Let me know!
